Bonjour Paris!
Our pad is awesome - central to everything with parisian style apartment living. We are situated in the Bastille district with great atmosphere, shopping cafes and restaurants. We are next to Place des Vosges - Victor Hugo square. A 5 minute walk to the Seine through St Paul a 10-15 minute to Notre Dame and access to multiple Metro stations (view from our window below along with Place des Vosges our local park).
Bev joined us from Spain and good to have her back on board and we have been busy tourist bees.
We have managed to conquer the following:
- Notre Dame, many times as we walk through this area regularly and have found a quiet cafe that suits us and the kids
- Eiffel Tower, to which we caught the glass elevator to the top, although busy moving through tourists with the family the view was spectacular and though I have seen before it still amazed me.
- Versailles - WOW what a palace and the gardens were beautiful we caught the petit train out to Marie Antoinette's petit trinon (hamlet). The day was exhausting as we commenced with a line closed for upgrade and then the train we were on was delayed 45 mins due to an electical problem but we made it and enjoyed the ambience and extravagance Versailles offered.
- Trav and I were lucky enough to have a night out together at Moulin Rouge which was outstanding, very colourful, vibrant and sexy.
- Louvre and the gardens leading to Champs-Elysees and Arc-de-Triomphe.
Coming Up: Disneyland (tomorrow), Seine River Cruise and Dinner looking across the bank at the Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur, more shopping and maybe Monet museum before we head to Avignon - Pont du Guard.
A plus tard

You guys certainly are keeping up a cracking pace. Paris is great isn't it. Still one of the world's most beautiful cities. Hadn't realised Versaille was on ypur agenda. What a magnificent place but makes you wonder about the poor peasants of those days while others were living in such opulence. Just had fireworks here in New York for Bastille Day. Great view from the 35th floor of our new apartment. We had a great trip to Europe and caught up with all our friends (see blog for details). Finally starting to get ourselves organised in our new home. Take care guys, Regards Terry & Pam xxx
